FIGHTING FOR OUR WATER, OUR DEMOCRACY, AND CLEAN ENERGY

From the St. Croix River Valley, to her home in the Chippewa Valley, down to the Coulee Region, and all the way to the Illinois border in southwest Wisconsin, conservationists like you are working with Kate to make change happen at the state and local level through transformational community organizing.

In western Wisconsin, Governor Evers’ declaration that 2019 is “The Year of Clean Drinking Water” validates the work local groups and activists have been doing to make sure families are protected from unchecked factory farm growth in Eau Claire County and in southwest Wisconsin. Recent well testing showed that southwest Wisconsin has some of the worst water quality in the state. That’s why Kate and a team of volunteers and activists are working to make sure improvements to state manure spreading rules (NR 151) are expanded to include southwest Wisconsin.

Clean energy and democracy also top the work Kate and conservationists are doing in western Wisconsin. Kate led the charge in Eau Claire in 2018 that led to the city setting a 100 percent renewable energy goal. She now takes that experience down Highway 94 to Menomonie, where she is engaging local leaders in setting a similar goal. Farther south in La Crosse, Kate is working to make sure early voting is accessible for all.
